85. Grieve Not For Him
(A funeral poem for a just man. To the righteous, death holds neither threat nor terror.)
Grieve not for him, this friend of all,
As angels bear him to his rest.
(In selfishness, our tears must fall,
And sorrow pierce our pain-filled breast.)
For he has done the Father’s will,
All here, and more, have known his love.
We trust His promise He’ll fulfill,
To grace this son with joy above.
And so we humbly thank our God,
That we’ve been blessed to know and share,
Some steps along the path he trod,
As he taught us to serve and care.
Then when the judgment trump will blow,
And each shall bow before our Lord,
His faith and righteous works we'll show,
That he receive the Son’s reward.
