28. The Wife’s Song
I chose you then, and I will not desert you.
You loved me once, return to me, and stay.
Come back, my love, we’ll seek Christ’s grace, together.
He calls to you, with power to lift and save.
Come back to me, my friend and my companion.
Return again, and seek not sin’s dark grave.
So many years, we shared Christ’s joy together.
Through every trial, we felt His loving hand.
Do not deny His power to cleanse and heal you.
Do not refuse His call and His command.
Go not, my love, for we belong together,
’Gainst death and hell, we will forever stand.
Can you not hear your children crying for you,
Each night in prayer, their tender voices raised?
Come back, dear one, come share a life of honor.
Go out no more to error’s sinful ways.
Christ calls on you, please hear His voice and hearken,
And stand forever valiant in His praise.
