44. Simple Heroes of Our Day
So rarely do we stop and thank
Simple heroes in our lives.
Kind servants who have calmed our fears
Or stilled our troubled cries.
For, just as soon as we were blessed,
We hurried on our way.
Too busy with our selfish cares
To stop a moment and say:
"I’m so grateful for your help this day,
God bless you for your life,
Your true concern has touched my heart
And saved my soul from strife.
For I was hurting ...lost...confused,
Until you came along.
But by your aid I’ll smile again
And I’ll sing a happier song
Of gratitude for all you’ve done--
For everything you are.
And If God would grant me one request
It would be He name a star
For you, a hero, of our day,
To those you’ve helped thus far."
