84. Brother, Friend, and Fellow-Servant
Brother, friend, and fellow servant,
Our companion in the Lord,
Trust the witness of God’s promise,
As you wait for your reward.
You have loved and trusted Jesus,
Who has paid for every sin.
In due time, you’ll know God’s fullness,
When you go to live with Him.
Father blessed you with His spirit,
While you were yet child and boy.
And through every trial watched over you,
Past short days of youthful joy.
Always serving, often suffering,
You’ve been tried by God’s command,
Every pain and each affliction,
Consecrated by God’s hand.
Now you wait for life eternal,
And the Savior’s smiling face,
But with patience, you must linger,
Waiting for the Savior’s grace.
We, like you, are being tested,
Though our trials are not the same,
We, like you, have known God’s mercy,
Through our faith on Jesus’ name.
As we’ve strived to share our witness,
Of the Father’s Holy One,
We’ve become both friends and brothers,
Fellow-servants of God’s Son.
Thus we trust in Heaven’s promise,
Of the mansions we will see.
When this painful, brief, probation,
Find its end, for us and thee.
