100. A Correction Soon Begins
It will be a day like any other,
The Sun rising in the East.
And the vain, and vile, and wicked,
Shall toast, and boast and feast.
They are sure they are the masters,
Of our world and of our fate.
And they rule their cowed dominions,
With the tools of fear and hate.
It will be a day like any other,
As the faithless and the fool,
Shall blithely live their lives adrift
From God’s guidance or His rules.
They shall stuff their souls with trifles,
They shall waste their days in sin,
And ignore each sign and warning
That a correction soon begins.
It will be a day like any other,
As the poor in spirit plead
That the Lord fulfill His promise,
To answer their good needs.
The believer and the penitent,
From every clime and land,
Shall bow their heads and bend their knees,
And beg God’s saving Hand.
It will be day like nothing we have seen,
Or thought might ever come.
As the hosts of Heaven descending,
Sound God’s own battle drums.
And the angels of the righteous,
And the spirits of the pure,
Shall intervene with power,
Our freedoms to assure.

Modern day Gadiantons (No. 96) skillfully employ Satan's weapons to deprive us of our moral agency--our Divine freedom to act for ourselves and determine our own fate, subject to the ultimate power and laws of Almighty God. Those tools include: fear, hate, ignorance, and force--to control us, divide us, weaken us, and overcome our will. Deity's tools are the opposite: love, faith, knowledge, and freedom.
This poem is not about the final Apocalypse. Far too many revelations/promises must be fulfilled before Jehovah formally returns in power and glory. These include, but exceed, the requirement that the Restored Gospel must be preached to every "nation, kindred, tongue and people". This, alone, cannot happen without world change.
This piece is figurative and not prophetic about what form a necessary alteration/change/correction might take. Will it occur "in a single day"; involve mighty signs and wonders; arise through earthquake, plague, famine, or war; take place on a truly global scale, or in different regions in different ways/times? I do not know. I am not supposed to know.
A principal theme of the October 2014 General Conference was: the Lord's Apostles and Prophets will provide necessary guidance at the proper time. Our duty is undeniable: "Behold, I sent you out to testify and warn the people, and it becometh every man who hath been warned to warn his neighbor." (Doctrine & Covenants 88:81.) Thus far, over decades, their instructions have been consistent and clear: Use the Lord's saving ordinances for ourselves, our families, our neighbors, and our kindred dead; love one another; obey God's commandments; seek and use the Gift of the Holy Ghost; prepare for days of scarcity; read and follow scripture; and trust in the Lord. When and as needed, new counsel and direction will be given. God will triumph. Will we be His when He does?
