78. Tearful and Fearful I Prayed Through the Evening
Tearful and fearful I prayed through the evening,
Worried and wondering, I pled for God’s hand.
Daylight brought insight and peaceful assurance:
“The Spirit will guide you to know My command.”
Trusting and tender, I wait for the future.
Humble and hopeful, I feel peace of heart.
The Father heard cries from a child who questioned,
But a Sister of Zion now prepares to embark.
He sees all my struggles. His wisdom is boundless.
The ends of His power will never be known.
My all-loving Father hears every petition.
I am fed with His bread, not a serpent or stone.
So let me be patient in every affliction,
And let me show faith as I gently endure.
He never will fail me. He never will leave me.
His goodness is perfect. His promise is sure.

Alma 58:10-11
“Therefore we did pour out our souls in prayer to God, that he would strengthen us and deliver us out of the hands of our enemies, yea, and also give us strength that we might retain our cities, and our lands, and our possessions, for the support of our people. Yea, and it came to pass that the Lord our God did visit us with assurances that he would deliver us; yea, insomuch that he did speak peace to our souls, and did grant unto us great faith, and did cause us that we should hope for our deliverance in him.”
