26. The Translators
A reverent whisper can be heard,
In this, God’s House, on this, His day.
By Spirit’s fire, hearts are stirred,
As grateful saints both sing and pray.
Close at our side, you see our friends,
Dear brothers of a different tongue.
They know our care will never end,
For by His grace, we would be one.
Our Savior gave His life for us,
That we might live in Father’s love.
And so, to some a sacred trust
Has come to speak for God above.
To bridge our lives, to join our souls,
These few are blessed with talent rare.
A precious gift that makes us whole,
For by their labors all will share
The words and thoughts of each who speaks,
Who long to give all here their joy.
This work is hard, and they feel weak,
Yet Spirit’s gifts they will employ,
To testify, and teach, and praise,
Till we are one these precious hours,
Until our final hymns are raised,
And we, with them, feel Heaven’s powers.

Doctrine & Covenants 90:11
“For it shall come to pass in that day, that every man shall hear the fulness of the gospel in his own tongue and, in his own language, through those who are ordained unto this power, by the administration of the Comforter, shed forth upon them for the revelation of Jesus Christ. ”

More members of the Restored Church now live outside of the United States than inside. English is becoming a minority language. There is a special need for diverse types of “translators.” Not only those talented individuals who can relate speech, but also for souls who, through the Holy Ghost, can translate our deepest emotions, surest beliefs, and strongest testimonies.
