16. Within Our Slumber We Will Dream
“We Will Begin a Journey of Spirit and Sharing “
Within our slumber we will dream of things we might yet see.
With Spirit’s sight we’ll dare envision days that will yet be.
Across the years, around the world, we’ll feel and suffer much.
But all the while, we’ll search to find and know a prophet’s touch.
"We Will Learn to Share the World's Pain”
We will stand in congregations of the weak and of the poor.
We will hear the cries of children we no longer can ignore.
We will kneel with loving servants who have sworn to serve the right,
And weep with them to see those brothers who have lost Christ’s Light.
“We Will Offer Our Lives to God”
We will raise our voices far away to share the word of God.
We will come to know, in some small part, the paths which Jesus trod.
We will ask for nothing more than that we live to serve the Lord,
And trust again in promises the world has long ignored.
“We Will Join With Fellow-Servants”
Brothers, sisters, labor with us all around this needy world.
Once again we see the flag of truth with honor bright unfurled.
Know that those who doubt or err will never last that Final Day,
When Christ comes again to live with those who love Him and obey.
“We Will Share an Incomparable Joy”
There is a rapture in our spirits when we feel the hand of fate.
As God works a mighty change within our lowly, mortal state.
Through the Spirit, dross and weakness in our lives are burned away,
And the purity which lingers is the gold He meant to stay.
“We Will Trust in the Atonement of the Son”
In the morning’s darkest hours we will kneel on trembling knees.
And we’ll ask that He who sent His Son will help our souls to see.
We are still so weak and foolish that we need Christ’s constant care.
Yet we trust that by our Savior’s grace, He always will be there.
“We Will Trust the Father”
As we struggle toward the future, as we ponder on the past.
As we pray and serve and strive and seek the spirit of the fast.
We are calmed and cleansed and changed from who we were so long before,
And within our hearts, the call to love and serve will come once more.
Alma 31:32-35
“O Lord, wilt thou comfort my soul, and give unto me success, and also my fellow laborers who are with me . . .yea, even all these wilt thou comfort, O Lord. Yea, wilt thou comfort their souls in Christ.
"Wilt thou grant unto them that they may have strength, that they may bear their afflictions which shall come upon them because of the iniquities of this people.
"O Lord, wilt thou grant unto us that we may have success in bringing them again unto thee in Christ.
"Behold, O Lord, their souls are precious, and many of them are our brethren; therefore, give unto us, O Lord, power and wisdom that we may bring these, our brethren, again unto thee.”
