149. He Lacks Not Faith
Context and Trigger:
In 2020, I left a prior "prepper web site board" that I had long favored to join another. One of the authors at the new site explained a few weeks ago that his wife of many years had just endured an eight and one-half hour surgery. While all were optimistic, he humbly requested prayers from his readers on her behalf.
I knew from many comments this author had made that he was both a former and present "healer"--serving as a combat medic in wars overseas and then as an emergency specialist upon his return to America. "Surely, I thought to myself, the Lord will hear and heed the pleas of one such, whose life has been spent in healing others. Cue light bulb over my head. The following poem was quickly composed and sent.
He later reported she was progressing strongly, and many well-wishers attributed, in part, her healing as an act of divine providence, justified in part by the faith of the patient's husband, "unseen friend". I deemed this experience as affirmation that the Lord respects and honors the sincere petitions of those whose connections to the afflicted and needy may be rather modest or even markedly tenuous. I, personally, have become more attuned to the increasingly numerous requests for prayers I find in multiple "boards" and net venues I frequent.
149. He Lacks Not Faith
He lacks not faith, and yet concern weighs heavy on his anxious soul.
His bride and dearest friend must suffer grievous risk to be made whole.
At Heaven’s urging, he invites the faith and prayers of friends unseen,
That their petitions join with his to hush his fears and heal his queen.
On fervent knees they bow their heads and ask that Father send relief.
Restoring, soon, his loved one’s health in answer to their firm belief
That angels sent from Heaven’s Home will aid those worthy of God’s care
Infusing skill and strength to mortal healers working there.
Thus earth and heaven join as one to brace and bless these kindly souls
And we rejoice to add our pleas that unseen friends shall soon be whole.
