132. The Days I Spent With You
As the world devolves around us,
And the Spirit whispers “Woes”.
As the “ship of state” now flounders,
And our betters become foes.
As the famous, rich, and mighty,
Evanesce like morning dews,
I find solace, hope, and comfort
From the days I spent with you.
At our gates invaders gather,
Round our Head*, the traitors scheme.
Those who have no roots to ground them,
Have no plan but tears and screams.
Worldly wisdom is found lacking,
Satan’s hosts advance in view.
But despite the fear and danger,
I have seen God’s grace in you.
You have been my brothers, sisters,
Who have born my deepest cares.
Even when my days were brutal,
Still I found your courage there.
I cherish times we spent together,
Seeing how your hearts beat true.
If I make it through this madness,
It will be because of you.
We are called to different vineyards,
By the Lord’s anointed hands.
We must now fight separate battles,
As new evils stalk our land.
But I have a firmer faith now,
Due to all that we’ve been through.
I will yet reach Heaven’s Harbor,
On the course I set with you.

To my former fellow Ward members, who will
always be my brothers and sisters in Christ, Jesus:
I bless the day I met you all.
I will never forget you.
I will never cease praying for you.
I ask for your continued faith and prayers.
I will yet be a witness of your worth.
May we gather round the board, together—forever.

Notes:
- * Our "Head" refers to our duly elected president.
- The last two verses of the third stanza refer to my brothers and sisters both teaching me and motivating me to exercise faith in Jesus Christ and remain with them on the covenant path.
- There are numerous additional allusions above to diverse current events which I will not explain--"If you don't know what I mean, you haven't been paying attention." (That's not necessarily a bad thing.)
