48. For the Healers of the World
One special day, before our Lord,
His sons and daughters come to call.
And each seeks talents, choice and kind,
That they serve Him by serving all.
To some, sweet music’s gift is lent,
And we now hear their wondrous sounds.
Musicians raise pure songs of joy,
That echo still the world around.
To others, artistry is given,
With brush and wood and steel and clay.
Their clever fingers paint and craft,
The longings that we share each day.
Yet others choose still different gifts,
Some work with minds made bright and clear.
While some can build or fix or mend,
And others have a caring ear.
But some are slow to ask of Him,
A special talent, craft, or skill.
These know that mortal life is harsh,
With hurt and pain enough to kill.
Within these souls, a wordless want,
Has come that only God can feel.
These seek to be His loving hands,
The ill to cure, the lame to heal.
They speak no creed but one of care,
With tender touch and anxious heart.
They bind our wounds, make well the sick,
And give our lives another start.
Their days are long, their worries great,
As each new patient needs their best.
And we, too often, fail to thank
These healers who gain little rest.
We bid them know our great esteem,
For all they do for us each day.
For their kind service gives us hope,
That we can live in God’s own way.
Then let us praise them, one and all,
And know they labor not alone.
These are God’s hands for great and small,
Until the time He calls them Home.

Doctrine & Covenants 42:43
“And whosoever among you are sick, and have not faith to be healed, but believe, shall be nourished with all tenderness, with herbs and mild food, and that not by the hand of an enemy.”
1 Corinthians 12: 1, 4-9
“Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant… Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit…And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit”
