24. Temple Hill
At risk on storm tossed waters, I sought safety,
Fair haven from a shoreline rife with sin.
I saw many drifting souls crushed and torn on error’s shoals,
But I pled for a refuge safe with Him.
Surrounded by foul currents, I found beauty.
A harbor free from mortal vice or pride.
I thrilled to see the sight, and asked to stay the night,
Where angels walked to keep watch near my side.
Not all who seek to shelter there may enter,
For Jesus taught we must be pure in heart.
But for those who seek His will, His commandments to fulfill,
Our Savior's grace supplies the missing part.
I left man’s frenzied seas and found God’s temple.
And with His love, rejoiced to serve the Lord.
By His servants I was led, and I cared for kindred dead,
As I strove to learn and live His every word.
At anchor in this refuge I gained wisdom.
The Spirit taught my soul eternal truth.
With loved ones I rejoiced, as I served as their own voice,
And together our hearts sought imperiled youth.
How blessed I was to rest there from the tempest.
I dreamed of Eden’s placid ponds and rills.
Despite the threatening night, I knew peace in Heaven’s light,
While sheltered in the calm of Temple Hill.
Abandon doubt’s fierce tides and labor with me,
Until all mankind knows of Christ our Lord.
Every brother we will warn, of the One who calmed the storm.
With faith, we’ll share the Master’s safe reward.
