97: The Setting Apart
With a heartfelt prayer for inspiration,
Trembling, the Spirit was sought.
With gathering strength,
Priesthood keys were humbly invoked.
Hands, resting lightly,
Were weighty with importance.
Following an ancient pattern,
Restored again, by Joseph the Seer,
In these, the last and latter days,
Words of commission and counsel
Were spoken with quiet dignity.
Encircled by love,
New leaders conquered self
By submitting to the Father’s will.
Presiding in this small circle,
Which reached the eternities,
Were the Lord’s anointed.
Acting under their Prophet's command,
They empowered the new Stake Presidency
To become even more like Chriist
By serving one another
And their entrusted flock.
With like minds and dedicated hearts,
They are brothers in Christ.
Words ended, but the Spirit remained,
And in times of concern or challenge,
They can return again and be renewed
By that special, sacred, moment,
When, fulfilling Jesus’ petition,
They were one.

John 17:20-21
“Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. ”
CONTEXT
Although I was not present for that sacred ceremony, I was well informed about the same through decades of Priesthood callings of all kinds. Thus, I was not at all surprised at Elder Dale Renland's (First Quorum of Seventy) announcement to the entire body of the Stake Membership that (1) he was acting at the direction of the First Presidency; (2) he was operating under express authority given him by President Monson; and (3) that the Priesthood keys he would confer came from Jesus Christ through President Monson--to be exercised, and then relinquished, when the Lord saw fit. It was a choice experience.
