We did not choose each other,
But we both chose to serve.
We share a faith. We share a call.
We vowed to share Christ's word.
But, sometimes, we may feel alone,
Our former lives so strange.
Our prior cares, and speech, and wants,
Obstruct much needed change.
For you and I were called to seek
And find our Savior’s heart.
Until we learn to love as He,
We will remain apart.
Until the things that bring us close
Shut out those that divide,
We cannot teach our Master’s words
And feel Him at our side.
I pledge, anew, my life to Him.
I pledge my love for thee.
That we, as one, will do His will,
And help each brother see,
That all must leave their selfish cares
And take His heavy cross.
So He can lead us with one heart,
To find all who are lost.
