36. A Wedding Song of Praise
The Bride Sings
It seems so long, that I have been alone now,
So long, I’ve known a weak and empty heart.
But now you’re here and I will never leave you.
My love is true, tell me we’ll never part.
Stay close, my love, we’ll serve our Lord, together.
He calls to all, with power to heal and save.
If you stay near, my friend and my companion,
I’ll never go, nor ever fear the grave.
The Bridegroom Replies
I near despaired that I would ever find you,
The months sped by, each one a mournful daze.
Forever more, we’ll share a life together.
Through endless years, His kindness we will praise.
We trust in Him, who is our caring Savior,
We’ll not refuse His call and His command.
I’ll stay, my love, for we belong together,
‘Gainst death and hell, we will united stand.
The Wedding Company Sings
We loved you both, and grieved for your aloneness,
Each incomplete, yet each so kind and true.
Our hopes fulfilled, we witness blessed union.
As you begin a life that’s altogether new,
We sing in praise of He who saw your longing,
And bid you wed, that you might serve as one.
We praise the Father, for His endless mercy,
And for the gift He gave of His Beloved Son.
The Couple Replies
Two, joined as one, we sing this song together,
Come, share our joy, and feel God’s gentle Hand.
We pledge to live a life of peace and honor,
We will remain the couple He has planned.
We laud His name, He who brought us together,
And we will serve Him all our earthly days.
With you, our friends, we shall arise to meet Him,
And, with all saints, raise endless hymns of praise.
